is there anything that can be done for a heavy clutch pedal, or do you just need a new clutch fitted when it gets like this? There's not really any noise changing gear but sometimes it's not exactly smooth? _________________ meteor silver 1981 924 lux. -UK |

i don't know much about cars so i could be wrong...
but i had the same problem with my car a very heave clutch pedal.
i replaced the clutch cable and its much lighter now but still a heavy.
i think a clutch cable could be the problem but its probably due to the clutch.... i heard clutches get heavy when they are at the end of their life.
just try a new clutch cable and adjust the clutch play and see if that makes it better. _________________ 78 924 sold.

i'm not sure abuot the 81 924 but i'm sure they are all mechanical clutches up to 83? mechanical clutches are heavier than hydraulic clutches but they aren't suppose to be super heavy and not suppose to get stuck. _________________ 78 924 sold.

I agree with Timstar92404 here. Probably the clutch cable.
I had something similar recently. The clutch was starting to feel really heavy & all of a sudden one night...BANG...clutch goes all the way to the floor. Lucky for me it turned out that the bottom adjustment nut had worked loose & finally slipped right off the end of the thread. That allowed the cable to pop off the adjustment bracket so it was simply a matter of putting it back where it should be & getting the right amount of free play. Feels much better now.
Easy job but I found it really tight trying to get my hands down there to make the adjustment. _________________ TJ

Check the return spring attached from the clutch pedal to the pivot point, it may have been replaced at some stage. Mine was done during the conversion with two springs and it was heavy as but i had a new clutch. It snapped at one point and I replaced it with a new spring of the right length. Did wonders for movement...

What length should the spring be? _________________ meteor silver 1981 924 lux. -UK |
