If I sit at idle it lowers to ten volts. It’s fairly consistent with the rise in engine temperature and the volts drop. Its not fan actuated.
I can run at 60 mph all day and it will never drop.
If I sit in traffic after a minute its drops. Belt is good and tight.
Before I replace the voltage regulator any other ideas? _________________ 1978 924 95 mile daily driver.

Are you trusting the in car voltmeter or have you hooked a good volt ohm meter directly up to the battery? _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

No voltmeter yet. Got a little lazy after the weekend repair romp.
My starter does not turn over as well so I thought a definite charging issue. In fact it's real sluggish after the volt drop I described.
I charged the battery all Sunday night and it ran well this morn.
On the way home, volt drop again.
I don't know how to test the regulator. Do I put it in series with the battery pos?
It all seemed to happen after the heater coil leak. _________________ 1978 924 95 mile daily driver.

The quickest way to find out what's going on is to yank the alternator and take it to a parts house for a free test.
Based on your description, it may be the regulator, which means you must pull the alternator anyhow, why not get it tested before spending money? _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

Hey Augi, paul dang donkeys luck my chargin sys. is on the
lamb also. See I pulled everything to clean it up repair any wires
when I installed exhaust now volt guage reads 12.7 whilst its running and the chrging sys. isnt working. Les Swabs told me so.
Dont know if maybe I put a wire on wrong between the starter and alt.
comin off the 3 prong connector. Ill pull and test the alt though, I have a few alts that are good.
Though at this point Im not sure whats correct for hooking up the wires
bewteen the alt and starter. Any help here would be appreciated and a reward of kind words and such offered. _________________ 1979 porsche 924 Na
