Hi!
Is the transmission mounts (silent blocks) the same on 924 and the 944?
I trying to swap the transmission , bought a 5 speed (016/8 ) instead of the old 4 speed (probably a 88/6), and the silent blocks are falling to pieces...
PelicanParts seems to only list the 944 parts? And in the PET, the 924 and 944 silent blocks has different parts number?

If it's an Audi based transmission that you have in your 924 then the trans mounts are the same as a 944. _________________ Dan Flanagan--2002 VW Jetta TDI, 83 Mercedes 300D,83 Mercedes Euro-240D |

Yes, it's a 5 speed Audi gearbox.
At least they do look the same? But in the PET there is:
477 399 153 J = the 924 suspension mounts (or silentbloc)
944 375 045 = the 944 suspension mounts
IIRC the rear cross member is different on the 924 compared to the 944... Could this be a reason why a 944 transmission mount wouldn't fit on a 924?

The older 924 trans mounts had one bolt through the rubber to the mount, the newer ones( and the 944's) had 2. That's it. I have a set of 944 mounts in my car right now. _________________ Dan Flanagan--2002 VW Jetta TDI, 83 Mercedes 300D,83 Mercedes Euro-240D |

Dug up this old thread and blew the dust off it.
Would like something more substantial than stuffed tranny mounts with some 10mm rubber jammed in them. Not worth using S/H mounts IMO but the genuine replacements are an outrageous price. The 944 ones are only half as ridiculously priced.
Now I dont know what the 924S has but has anyone got the 944 type to compare to. If one of the 2 holes line up thats all we need hopefully. A picture will tell a thousand words nearly. Unfortunately Pelican`s pic is of the other side.
Anyone help? |

I can verify that early 944 (pre-85) mounts are the same as 924 mounts with two bolts. Late 944 hase one central mount with crossmember.
924S has standard 924 mounts. _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

Thanks Raceboy for confirming that.
Looks like I`m going shopping for early 44 mounts then.
