This one goes to Smoothie... (See this old message!)

Step 1: Remove gear lever from transaxel tube and get some heat-shrink tubing
Pic nr 1: The parts...

Step 2: Cut a piece of tubing that fits on the pin of the gear lever
Pic nr 1: Tubing shrinked onto the pin!

(Step 2b or pre-3: In my case, the tubing didn't really stick on the pin, so I put the tubing in the selector rod's hole instead... The wrong way around, kind of...
Pic nr 3: The wrong way...)

Step 3: Install the gear lever on the transaxel tube and slide the pin into the hole. Ta-daaa!
Pic nr 4: Everything in place!

Pros and cons
+ Cheap!
+ Easy!
+ Did I say "Cheap"???
- Since the pin and hole are most likely egg-shaped, the fit might be a little too tight in the middle...
- The heat-shrink tubing that I got didn't get that glossy finish I wanted...
- In my case, the fit is almost too tight, might be tough getting in and out of gear?

Any comments?

Regards
The crazy Swede...

If you used the clear teflon heat shrink it may work for awhile but I would expect the normal heatshrink to go away pretty quickly.

Don't take this too seriously, I was just acting guinea pig for Smoothies idea.

And yes, the heat-shrink tube will probably wear out pretty quick, but I'll see how long the stuff works this summer.
