Hi, Guys my friends demon seed of a 924 is acting up again, Running great, Just about everything has been replaced taken apart cleaned and so forth. Lots of new parts, but even though it idles and runs and revs properly you dirve it down a couple of blocks and the exhaust manifolds gets red hot. He isn't driving it this way, but is quite in need of help, the plugs check out so the air fuel mixture looks to be in good order, any and all suggestions would help. He needs his car tonight, Thanks _________________ Life is to short to be looking for something? |

Best we can the flywheel was installed wrong so you can't get the timming light back there. But the front marks seem to mark up well? It has a nice idle. SO I am guessing that we are pretty well on. _________________ Life is to short to be looking for something? |

The timing is slow. This causes the combustion gases to finish burning in the exhaust manifold rather than in the cylinder. Advance it, and try it.
Cam timing can have a similar effect, but most frequently it is ignition timing. _________________ 88 951 stone gray

| Can also be made worse by running premium fuel for the same reason. |

I noticed a similar problem when I had a badly cracked exhaust manifold.
The mixture and timing were spot on. At the time, the car had a blown head gasket from the previous owner. I suspect that the exhaust leak was the cause of the glowing exhaust. When I replaced the head gasket, and the exhaust manifold, the problem did not reoccur. |

Thanks guys, I didn't know that premium gas could have an effect, We run premium in all our cars. Anyways, we reset the distirbutor, reset the air fuel mixture. Drove for about 3 miles demon seed porsche 924 seems to run fine. It is starting and running and driving very well. but we didn't push her last night. It was late we were tired, waiting for him to show up this morning and see what the verdict is. Man I have never had so many troubles with a car in my life as this little car has been a nag through the whole build one problem after another. I am just hoping to have finally gotten all the bugs out. _________________ Life is to short to be looking for something? |
