| My car didn't come with a jack. Will a hydraulic bottle jack fit under the frame if one tire is flat? |

Sure. Mine came with the OE jack, but I also carry a small bottle jack. The OE version makes me a bit nervous - in use a few times it looked like it was straining under the load. Just be sure to place the bottle jack where it won't slip and of course use wheel chocks.
Here's where I place it for the rear on my car - http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/smoothies931pics/detail?.dir=7a86&.dnm=1ef5.jpg&.src=ph _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

The only jack that I had with a 924 that scared me was the early crank jack. Those one legged screw drives that hook into the rocker jack point and then leverage the car up on one foot. I think I would rather have a couple buddies lift up on the bumper.
The only time I used the scissor jack from the later cars was when we had a flat on a car with 944 rockers just the other day. I have to say it was a life saver. We had to sneak it behind the flat wheel and use it on cross member. The rockers make it impossible to get a floor jack or the OE jack under there.
If you want to replace your factory jack, either kind, let me know I have a few of each. |

Pics of what I was referring to as the OE jack (it was OE for my car, but apparently 2 other types were supplied with earlier 924s) - http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=10304&highlight=jack _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

I use a light weight 3000 lb, aluminum jack in my car, small enough to fit in the back side compartment and low enough to get under the lowest of vehicles, and mine is low. Only weighs in at 24 lbs, jack handle comes apart. It maybe overkill on a jack, but it has saved me a few times. _________________ Life is to short to be looking for something? |
