Five inches on the ground; ten more on the way. First day of spring.
My neighbor goes to Arizona every winter. He just got back a week ago and we now will have the largest snow fall of the year.
I'll take the snow over hurricanes any day! _________________ '80 924 n/a SOLD |

keep your head down and watch out for those crocs.
Ah, the occasional price for tropical living. Still, I'd rather be hot than cold. _________________ 1979 924 (Gone to a better place)

I think it's just the center that is a desert. The edges are more 'normal'. For reference, LOTRs were shot in New Zealand that's not too far away.
It really sucks that the first day of spring is a snow day! but I guess this winter has been more like spring anyways. _________________ 1987 924S Guards Red

Australia has a variety of climates from almost arctic (Tasmania Hobart 42deg) to tropical nth Queensland and nthn Territory (Darwin 12deg)
Check out your own latitude.
I'm at 19deg below the equator.
The tropic of capricorn and cancer is at 23deg (I think)
Florida is 24deg above the equator
Hawaii is at 19deg.
The red centre is mostly desert and most of the population lives on the coast. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

Good luck Ozzie,
We here in Dallas just got rain dumped on us over the weekend, I am glad I live in a high spot as rain rates approached 2" (5cm) per hour several times. Sat 3.5" rain Sun 8.8". 2 day total 12.28"
All I could do was stand in the garage and watch everything flood.
At least the resevoirs are finally back up to normal, we had been in a drought since september and our yearly total just now reached 16" (half of that in one day).

We had a real bad storm here after a cyclone turned into a rain depression back in '97, got 24" in 24 hours.
Couldn't move for 2-3 days cos of floods. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

I spent 3 years on the coast in Louisiana and I completely understand what heavy, heavy rain is like. there the water table was only 3"-5" below ground level and on most if not all spring, and summer days at 3:00 it would rain about 2" in under 45 minutes. absolutely insane, locals didn't even bat an eye at it, but then they all had webbed feet too.
