So I was happily vacuuming the carpets in the boot area today when I lifted the flap that covers the storage cubby hole behind the r/s wheelarch to discover that it was 5 inches deep in water! Closer inspection reveals that the drain pipe from the hatch lockpin area had come adrift. Does this drain really carry away that much water? Last time I looked in there a week ago it was bone dry and we haven't really had that much rain. I can't help thinking there is more to it.

There is also a drain (with no hoses on it) on both sides that should have drained the water away.

I have the same problem on my 944, I found out when I wash the car water gets in.

On mine the hose is installed and does drain however water would still get in. I noticed that water was getting in from between the hatch metal and found that it's because the seal for the hatch pin is not sealing.

Also make sure the rear hatch hoses are not blocked, on my 924 for some reason there was a rock that was stuck in the hose and it wouldn't let water through.

There is also a pipe which drains the sunroof, that exits in those cubby holes

Thanks guys.
I had a brief check around the area and everything seems to be intact. I noticed the other drain tubes and suspected they may be from the sunroof but wasn't sure, they seem to be OK though. I have put the drain tubes back on and it looks like we are in for a bit of a storm this afternoon so I will check again when it passes and see what is in there. Hopefully it will be dry!

The seal around the rear light cluster is prone to leaks as well.

Also, as Paul says, the wheel arches should have drain holes at the bottom - make sure these are clear. Nothing eats metal faster than standing water!
