I have a question regarding the wiring to my coil:
It is installed a red coil with its own resistor mounted in front. The manual for this coil says that the resistors on the car should not be used.
The black/yellow wire is not connected anywhere and there is no resistors in use. A picture tells more than....
If I am comparing with the schematic for my early '77, it is a big difference in how things are connected.
I would think that the previous owner was a bit hasty when connecting this. Any ideas on how it should be? _________________ -=Torro=- |

What year car are you installing the new coil on, the '77? _________________ '80 924 n/a SOLD |

It is a -'77, but the previous owner has done some modifications. The coil that was in the car was the red bosch with the wiring described.
My best guess is:
Black + RED to a 0.4ohm resistor to Black/yellow wire
Black/yellow to the resistor on the coil to possitive coil
Black to negative coil _________________ -=Torro=- |

Not sure about the details of your coil, Torro.
Is the resistor fitted internally to the coil? If so does it have an extra terminal?
The way it normally should work is that the resistor is in line with the supply to the coil during normal running and is switched out (by the starter solenoid) during cranking to make up for the drop in voltage cause by the drain of the starter. _________________ 1985 Porsche 924 'Lux', Kalahari Beige (my ex)

It is one of those coils with a mounted resistor:
MCB0004
Ignition Coil (26kv)
heavy duty
To use with
RESISTOR(MCBR011)1.8Ω
It is running smoothly except when cruising in 2000-2500rpm, then it is running rough and jerkily. Not sure if it is related to electronic or fuel. There are some fuel problems with my car, a vacuum leak and/or the pressure valve is my guess. I also feel that the car is lacking power in high rpm. Going to swap the fuel distributor this weekend to see it that helps. _________________ -=Torro=- |
