HEY DOCO!
Ahem. . .I mean, "Hey, Doco!"
Here is my 2 cents, take or leave. . .
If you really want a 2.5, hold out for a 924S. If you get an 88, you get a 944 motor, in frankly a better looking car. IMO, 944s look dated and plastic-y compared to the beautiful and classic lines of the 924. The 924 also has better aero and higher top speed.
Oh, yeah, and because its "only a 924" you can get a good one for much cheaper than a good 944. . .I just got one for $900!

just a random thought...
How sick would it be to have a super sleeper 924.. De-badged and an NA spoiler, except with a 3.0 968 engine and upgraded brakes... Oh, it's not a real porsche... it's got a vw engine... HAHAHA.
I agree with rasta, try and find a 924 S. It seems that there are alot of decent ones on ebay all the time.

You can also bolt in a 951 powerplant, or an LS1.

Kevin D has a 968 motor in his 924S, my 986 had trouble keeping up with it on some Oregon Forest Service roads. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

I agree $500 is about right for a car with a blown engine.
There was one in Windham NH for a while for that price. _________________ 1982 924

1500 is way too much for a 944 with a blown engine, offer them 500 or less, they might laugh at you but oh well. I paid 350 for my running 924 and have only had to do minor work to it. try craigslist in san francisco CA, there are alot of 944 cars on there for hella cheap and they run too. _________________ 2000 Cavalier Z24 imposter

500 is about right. The engine alone will cost you more than you think. Rebuilding it should cost about 4 grand.
