when i got my car back from the dealers, they said they put on a heat shield. they said it was an upgrade and i was missing mine. part# 951-341-10802 . i looked it up , but cant find why its an upgrade. so u think they r pulling my leg or is it a factory upgrade?

Well, that part is in the 944 PET but not in the 924S PET, so it looks like your car didn't have one originally, but they decided it would add life to the motor mount.
Oddly, Red has one installed as well.

They decided it would add dollars to your bill too. heh heh. But you are better off, the exhaust side motor mount always seems to fail first.
My 87 924S came with one. I suppose it could have been installed later by someone, but I dont see why. The car had 75K miles on it when the motor mount went.

how much did they charge for the heat shield?
just one motor mount is already way expensive so may very well be worth it.
