According to my factory manual, these wires should be for the timing retardation? But they are unhooked. Which goes to which?

The one at lower left is a test connector. The ones at upper-center are for various uninstalled features like headlight washers and foglights. The barely visible wire at lower-right - for an '81-up NA would be for disabling EIS (electronic idle stabilization), for an '81-up 931 it's for timing retard. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. so the lower right one would have no effect on an '80 931? I'm not sure entirely where your describing though. I don;t suppose you could mark on the picture the barely visible wire?
My car doesn't have fog lights, but it has the fog light switch in the center console? |

All that's visible there is part of the wire. An '81-up would have a single wire connector on that wire laying on top of the wheel well that can be disconnected. For an '80, there's probably no connector.
No need for another label - just look at the extreme bottom-right corner.
If you have it, the factory foglight switch would be mounted on the vertical surface within a few inches of the cig lighter. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

gotcha now i see where your pointing. I have a 3 position switch to the left of the cig lighter that looks like it would be a fog light switch.
you can barely see it in this pic there is a little bit tht is not covered up by the wheel. |
