Here is a twist... I have had a suggestion that it might look better and work better if the arches are installed with the lip from under the existing arches? I will have to cut the arches etc anyway, so why not cut a bit more and mount them as suggested - from behind...

Has anyone tried this?

You'd be cutting a lot of the existing arch and body panel away though! Not sure how rigid the remaining metal would be.

Plus you may lose the inner arch. Keeping the outer and inner arch stuck together by whatever means you choose helps retain some strength and support.

For the left/right alignment I trawled the web and found these pics to use as a reference along with the guide from this site:

i completely agree with what you say billson, and I know it would give me a lot more metal fabrication and welding to do between the inner and outer arch together - but I have to do cutting and welding anyway! What I am not happy with (as I am a pain-in-the-a$$ perfectionist) is the change in body shape the moulded in lip will give, and as such I am looking for a good solution. Do you have any close up pictures of the arch installed on your car, and can you in any way (ie. from the rear) see that change in body line from where the lip has been moulded into the rest of the car?

My rear flares were different to yours. They had the lip at the back going down instead of up, so can't help on that point. Sorry

I'd imagine that someone onhere will be able to provide some close up pics of their flares.

Hope you manage to get it sorted!
