i was tired of that nasty ugly faded urine looking yellow paint job that came with the car, i never had any painting experience so this was my first shot!
so i decided to paint it myself in my garage using cans and not spending more that $70.
i borrowed a sanding machine and first sanded the car down and applied grey primer. then sanded over and appied 4 light coats of enamel white paint. i sanded lightly between each coat to make it look even. then i applied clear coat and sanded over with 2000 grit fine sand paper to make it feel smooth and not rough.

Looks great for a rattlecan job. My only suggestion would be to now get some clear and shoot on a couple of coats of clear. The clear has UV protectant in it, and it will keep the ratlle can paint from dulling so fast. _________________ 67 Mercury Cougar XR7 under Restoration

If it looks good, leave it.
If you have to spray more clear, follow the directions on the cans - many require a week of drying before spraying extra coats after the first hour. If you spray again too soon, it can lift and wrinkle the previously sprayed coats. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

For the GT headlight look on GT-racing.com. They are expensive, but they seem to be good quality.
Or check in the How-to section and do it your self. |
