Not really a performance mod...but something to make performance mods work

I've read around that a certain Ford mondeo fuel rail is a PERFECT fit...is it really? Anyone of you guys using it? i'd rather go to the brakers and get one instead of buying a custom rail or making one.

What about injector bungs? where can i get a set of screw-in ones ? just to replace the factory ones...i dont want to mod the head one bit.

Ford Duratec engines have a bore spacing of ~96mm, our engine is ~95mm. I have one fitted to my car OK, but you need to fit a fuel return line fitting as its a no-return system (Which is generally bad)

034 Motorsports makes injector inserts, or you can buy 4 transaxle plugs and use them.

Or you can simply get new stock inserts bored out. Don`t know if Endwrench is still doing them as he hasn`t been around lately.

Look in the 4sale section for a rail and insert kit.

I'm using a Mitsubishi Eclipse GST fuel rail with it's stock fuel pressure regulator (since it is boost referenced). It isn't exact on the injector spacing, I think it is off by 1 mm. I did have to drill the injector holes of the rail with a 35/64 inch drill bit to accept the bosch injectors. For injectors, I use stock VW 1.8T injectors, which are 30 lb injectors. I am also using the 034 motorsport inserts.

Just thought I'd give you an idea of some other possible options.

I've got a spare rail for my Focus (with the Zetec) and it looks like the spacing is pretty much spot on. It's got a Ford fuel line fitting bolted to one end and what looks like a blanking plate bolted to the other. I keep meaning to pull it off and see if it's actually open on that end. If so, it'd be dead simple to get another one of the fittings and put one on each end for a return line. It might also be easy enough to make a plate with whatever fitting you want, but I haven't seen what the sealing surface looks like yet.

I used a fuel rail off of a 1993 Ford Escort. Comes with a pressure regulator & return line, and bosch injectors fit perfect. I didnt use injector inserts and the fit is not bad at all. No leaks so far *knock on wood*

How do you get a seal without some sort of insert?

I drilled a recess into the top of eachinjector hole about 5mm deep so the injector O ring would seal properly.

To check for leaks I use some brake cleaner, with the engine runing a little squirt on each joint will quickly show if you haev a leak as the engine will stumble a bit. I've got a slightly leaky thropttle spindle and I found 2 injector seals ahd gone with this method a while ago.
