While fitting the rear GT flares ive found my wheels to sit too far forward in the arch

ie not equidistant from flare sides....ive also custom fit a slotted 944 turbo rear valance

1) Is a rear wheel that sits a little too far forward in the rear arch a mortal porsche sin?

2) Those thin GT side skirts ....how did people attach them and did they mould theirs in?

its the way it is...i bashed my head against the wall with this issue too..if you install them according factory specs the wheels will always sit too much to the front of the car...and nomatter what you do the car will look like a tram from the front semi-profile.
one way would be to mount the flares more to the front end...or modify them a little...

the big gap at the back of the wheels is a necesary aerodinamics thing tho...search around the internet for this thing..

I'm not happy with them at all - thinking about other options...

My GT flares were thin and that is why I put about 5 layers of FG on the underside. The flares have a 2 in lip to attach to the body. I drilled through the outer and drilled a smaller hole to put screws to mount the flare. Then after they were bolted on I filled in the outer holes.

We bonded with FG glue, the flares and bolted them to the body. Filled in the spaces with bondo and smoothed all surfaces..

Thanks Vince was actually looking to do the same method..lucky for me my glasser made my flares nice and thick..

what im more interested about is how people attached those thin side skirts?

From memory there are tabs along the top - they looked conspicuously like something to hold bolts/rivets etc. Maybe Fezza can chime in...

Skirts in the US cover the wheel arch on the rear of cars.

If you have tabs on the flares that is where they get attached. Use the method I wrote above. Problem is what do you do with the spaces next to the tabs. As I said I not only bolted them on I also used an epoxy to bond the flares on.
