Hello all,
I want to fit an oil temperature gauge to my 924 and am having problems working out where to mount the sender unit.
The oil pressure sender is in the back of the block below the distributor (I think) my plan was to fit a t piece and plumb in both senders there but space is a little cramped.
Has anyone else fitted an additional oil temp sender and if so where did you site it?

On most 924's there is a hole just above the oil drain hole that you can thread an oil temperature sender into. A few members have used this location.

It's M14x1.5, so be sure to order the correct sized sender.

I used the hole in the pan, mentioned above. Combined with a nice VDO gauge. Works great
Seems like the most sensible place to measure too. This is the temperature of the oil when it will be sucked in by the pump. In my case, after the pump it'll be cooled by the oil cooler, so the temperature could be lower when it really enters the block again. On the other hand, it'll be hotter when it goes back to the sump.
Measuring in the sump gives a good average of the temp I guess. As long as that's stable and doesn't exceed certain temperatures, you're able to know what you want to know. Chances are small that oil is getting too hot at some spots and the temp in the pan is normal  _________________ "Rule: Turbo's make torque, and torque makes fun." (C. Bell)

Yep, there's a hole there. But keep in mind that if you don't have an oil temp sender installed, the hole has a bolt in it right now...

mechanical gauge goes near the oil pressure sender, electrical sender goes in the oil pan, M14 x 1.5 IIRC.
and yes check the sender is in the right range i.e to use a VDO guage use 10 - 180 Ohm senders,
