Could have been the steering wheel... Best bet there is to hand it to your passenger and say, "You turn!"

I'd be checking ALL the lugs to find out which of the others are stripped.

1977 924

I've ended up having to take off my left rear wheel several times for one thing or another. this last time was for a wheel cylinder leak. I torqued it down but forgot to put the cotter pin back in. the wheel moved in the same direction the nut used to unscrew itself. I shot 30 feet of sparks, while the wheel rolled 50 yards down the road. I got it back on and drove 2 mph home. I think may need new bearings........and underwear. But on the bright side it didn't hit the wheel well and cause any body damage.

On the bright side, I did notince that it looked pretty sweet when it was sitting on the ground though. I'm definately going to lower it a little now.

lol! i have a friend that always says "great, now lower it!" in this case he'd have said "Great, now do that to the other 3 and keep it that way!"

LOL. Yeah. I think I spoiled myself on this one unless I can find tiny tires. It'll never be low enough....

I almost lost a wheel once. Dad and I were working on something and had all 4 wheels off. I was in a rush to go out that night so we finished whatever we were fixing. Since the car was on 4 jack stands we put the wheels back on and only hand tightened the lug bolts. We dropped the car down and started cleaning up tools, in the confusion Dad thought I torqued the wheels on and I thought he had done it. I dont know why we decided to test drive the car but we went around the block. I drove first and I noticed the car didnt "feel" right. There was a strange vibration that was there before. So Dad decided he should take it around the block. The vibration got worse so we parked it back in the garage.

I jumped out to look under the back and realized that the left rear had some mad negative camber It was being held on by one lug bolt!!!!! The last bolt was bent pretty good and we had to walk around the block in the dark looking for the other 3 lug bolts. Thankfully we were only going 30-40 KMH any faster or longer and I would of been 3 wheeling like Ice Cube and Snoop Dogg in a Lowrider, lol.

Moral of the story, dont rush and triple check the torque on those bolts.
