|
|
What is the large wire running to my left front wheel bearing area? I didn't climb under to look at it real close. I did look though the parts catalog, and I can't see any indication of what this wire is. It runs into the engine compartment and through the firewall behind the instrument cluster.
My best guess is a heat sensor for an idiot light in the dash.
Thanks,

| Seriously? How odd if that's true. it's awful flexible for a speedo cable. |

That's what she said?
Brendan.. How thick is it? Is it kind of stiff too?

Just like a Beetle
I think the early 911's did the same thing (which is still the same thing, HA!)
Runs through the upright, to the hub and clips onto the grease cap for the wheel bearings.
The grease cap has a square hole in the middle and the speedo cable has a tapered square end to fit snugly into the cap with a snap ring holding it in place. _________________ Stefan

Girth.
After I clean up the coolant all over the floor, i'll have to get in there and see. If it's a speedo, that's a new one on me. though it's maybe not as strange as a fresh air intake for an alternator.... |

Here's what mine looks like:
You can see the square drive dust cap (944 style) and the cable is just visible to the right behind the upright.
Here's the original 924 version:
Here's a shot of the cable running through my engine bay:
The cable is on the right, runs under the frame rail and steering shaft towards the LF wheel. _________________ Stefan
