Hey guys, both in my '81 and dads '77 the sunroof drains leak into the car. I'd say they're pretty heavily rusted By now ... Anyone got a good fix for this.. ? The water ingress is severe in the passenger footwell and rear pax footwell. Have checked the battery tray and it's not actually leaking so it's not that.

Both cars are N/A and both are RHD

I had the same problem in my 88 924s, here are the things you want to look for.

1. The rim around the roof has 4 drain points, they often get clogged. They can be cleaned by using weedwacker plastic rope, just like a pipe snake. To remove and replace them the interior panels must be taken out. One of the hoses i dont remember which one has a Y joint that often gets clogged the rope wont fix that you may have to do some disassemble to get to it. The rear 2 drain holes go aft, the front 2 go to the battery compartment so proper battery compartment drainage is key.

2. The battery compartment has a few drain points they have little rubber flaps on them that keep water from flying back in to the compartment, they often get clogged with leaves etc. They are large and can be cleaned by just pushing all the debris through them.

3. My batty compartment corroded away quite evidently, after a closer look, and was leaking bad. A sheet of fiber glass did the trick there. Even if you cant see a hole or a crack i would say get a sheet of glass and just cover the joint. It may be splitting under the weight of the battery and you cant see it when the bat is out. The glass is so light that it wont even make a significant difference in weight, it was a quick fix for me and stopped all of my passenger side water leaks

4. You may also have bad door seals, look for cracked rubber or no rubber etc.

best of luck
dave
