Thank you, it appears that the yellow with red trace is more to the centre of the valve and the brown white is closer to the edge or is it just an optical illusion
Is there anysort of writing on the bottom of the valve that is covered up by the muck on mine ?
I am soaking the screw thread in WD40 now so that I can take it out, it is a bit tight in there at the moment and as it is connected to other fuel components I dont want to force it

I dont think polarity is an issue with these solenoids. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

No writing on the bottom of mine. Looks like both spade connectors are equally located on bottom. The brown on mine just looks closer to edge as both connectors are bent. Don't want to touch them as they will most likely fall off!
I just replaced them as I found them which is not necessarily the correct combo, although matches up with the way the wires hang. _________________ 1978 924 RoW 5-Speed (Current Project)

Correct me if Iam wrong, which is usually the case, but doesnt a solenoid do something like open and close ?
If the wireing is the wrong way around would not the solenoid open when it should be closed and close when it should be open ?

Solenoids are just electro magnets. Energise them and the bolt moves.
It is possible for a solenoid to move the bolt in the other direction if the coil is energised in reverse, but it is just as possible for the bolt to move in the same direction whichever direction. From what people are posting, I'd say the SSV is of the latter type. The symmetrical connections also suggest that.

Hey guys, I just seen this thread and the electric solenoid show in the pictures earlier is exactly what I am looking for.
Anyone has an idea where I can buy one ? My 1985 924 needs a replacement of it.

That's the frequency valve which usually has up to a 50% duty cycle to adjust the mixture based on feedback from the oxygen sensor to the computer.
We have been able to modify our computer on the race car to drive the frequency valve between zero and over 80% if needed to achieve 12.8 CO readings throughout the rev range. _________________ 1979 924 NA race car H-Prod SCCA

Sorry, Chuck. That is not the US frequency Valve;
It's the ROW Solenoid Valve to help cure the hot start problems on the later cars.
@ ryanspud: Could you add type and year to your signature, and confirm what you have is a ROW 924?
Maybe you should try getting your hands on a second hand one by putting an add up in Cars and Parts Wanted/For Sale

…so it was ment for the Rest Of the World since the US stopped taking in 92fours as soon as the 94fours came into the picture (1982).
| ryanspud wrote: | | What do you mean by ROW 924 please ? |
ROW : Rest Of the World
A ROW 924 wasn't intended for the North American continent, in short US (My apologies to Canada)
The US 924 is different to a ROW car…
in looks and engine.
Cheers,

| Thanks for the information @Harm. Any ideas of where I can find the part I'm looking for, second hand or new ? Porsche shop does not have it for sale and to be honest I'm running out of options as I got no replies from some scrapyards and distributors I contacted. |
