On the other hand, If you are pretentious enough to pronounce Porsche with two syllables but at the same time ignorant enough to pronounce BMW as three English letters then that marks you out as a plain and simple idiot. Like Jeremy Clarkson.

Yes, but Mr Clarkson makes rather a good living out of being a pretentious idiot. He's said so several times himself... (As Hammond has put it several times: "Oh dear. Here comes Jeremy with An Opinion.")

But I think the best colour for the 928 is maroon.

I'm partial to the Platinum Metallic because when I was a kid, I had a Matchbox car, a gold 928, the doors opened on it and everything. It was soooo cool, the first Porsche in my (quite extensive) Matchbox car collection. They also came out with a silver 911, also opening doors, complete with whale tail. Anyway, since then, Gold / Platinum Metallic has always been my fav on the 928!

BTW, Paul is the one that actually looks like a penguin. Just kidding.

When I brought mine home my ol' lady pronounced Porsche in a way I can not even begin to describe.

I'm guessing SIX if you include the one under the cover and the shield in the background...

Correct, can you name the 4 gentlemen and what car is under the cover?

Hint the car is blue and it was first shown at the 50th PCA Parade in Hershey.

Looking at those rear haunches, I'd guess Cayman...

IIRC it is #002 of the 50 special edition PCA 911s. They were blue with #'d plaques and special paint, wheels and a few other goodies. I think that's the one they gave away to the PCA member at the Hershey parade...

As for the names, I can't read the name tags from here

I think it's pronounced something like this:

Without the 80 of course!

Just me, though!

I always pronounce the name correctly. It's Porsch-uh.
I tell my brand new customers who are saying "Porsh", that I can't help them at all with their cars unless they start pronouncing the man's name correctly. And I'm serious.
They know straight away that I'm a passionate enthusiast and they DO correct their errant ways lest they be banished to the hinterlands and unexperienced garages.

I once pulled over on the side of the freeway to put out a fire in a 944. The guy was running around screaming, "Somebody help me! Put my Porsh out!" I calmly told him I had an extinguisher in my truck, but couldn't help him until he said, "Porsche" correctly.
He did. I put the fire out. I had the 944 towed to the race shop. And he's one of my best customers since. Now he's telling people, "It's Porsch-uh, not Porsh!"

....not that I'm opinionated or anything like that....
