Well, it could definitely be related to the length of the studs on the VT mounts. The 941 install was during motor install, so the cross member would have been down, so that could have been an issue as well. On the 941, I was using stock units, and it seemed like a snap. But the VT mounts definitely have studs WAY longer than they need to be on top and on bottom. I have a pair going into the Club Sport, but the top studs have been cut down to match the OEM length.

I'm currently in the middle of this process. I removed the left side bracket in order to loosen a nut that holds on the bell housing.

Right now I just need an extra hand to guide the bracket in place whilst moving some other stuff out of the way.

Up next is the right side one; that looks to be more difficult due to all the shields in the way held in by tiny rusted hardware.

Yes, if you have a means to lift the engine (cherry picker or hoist).

If you want a set of the VT mounts, I am setup as a US reseller for them.

Can this be done with a floor jack and some creative wood usage? Or maybe a come-along and a overhead joist?

I will definitely get them from you when the time comes, but it appears my great CV rebuild and swap isnt so great, gotta address that now too.

And I'm eyeballing some flat dish rims from a 944 turbo on ebay.

Relax, all right? My old man is a television repairman, he's got this ultimate set of tools. I can fix it.

Yes. That's the state I'm in right now. One bottle jack under the front of the pan, and another under the rear. Each with some wood.

I've got two because my TT is currently disconnected for a new pressure plate.

I installed new mounts on my 931 and I did in fact have to remove the arm from the block. The studs wouldn't clear so I pulled the bolts for clearance. I also installed a mount dampener from a convertible 911 engine mount. The mounting points were already there and it bolted right up.

Thanks for the reply guys.

As fantastic luck would have it I was at a 924 meeting in the north of the UK just 3 days ago and one of the 9 cars there was a wonderful low milage turbo which had a set of road vibra-tech engine mounts fitted. The owner was kind enough to trade a passenger ride in mine for one in his to allow a true evaluation of the mounts.

I have to say that they wern't in any way uncomfortable, but they certainly seemed to transmit more vibration into the cabin, through my feet on the floor pan, than my stock ones.

As for tightening up the car, I'm unable to comment fairly since the turbo was running on new, stock springs and dampers and standard 60K mile bushes.

My car for comparison is on 17" wheels, with 40 sidewalls, Spax adjustable dampers and 951 ARB's so mine feels very stiff in comparison.

The verdict: if my OEM mounts failed, then I would be happy to change to the Vibra-tech road ones, but given the good condition of mine, there isn't enough perceived improvement to level the £240 cost.
