All,
On this loing journey with my 79NA I have flushed the fuel tank, replaced the pumps, wur and rebuilt the dizzy (did that myself). Idle is great and foot to the floor is great. Just can not run it in the middle, any gear at 3000rpm the engine is breaking up terrible, foot to the floor takes right off and sounds great.

Tested vacuum line that includes brakes and distributor and it was fine.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Hi,

Full advance from the spark it there by around 3 or 4000 revs usually, so as it works fine foot to the floor and idle, try and accelerate foot to the floor from 2000 to 5000 and see if its ok, if it is then I would look at it as a fueling issue. With tickover being fine, I would think it is not a problem with air leaking in, and as the thing is ok at full throttle, I would think the fuell supply and injectors are ok. I would look at the flap valve and fuel metering and control, sounds like the air measurement or fuel demand to actual supply part throttle is screwed up .
Hope this helps.

Had this problem after I had done some work on the car.
It was running too lean.

I adjusted the A/F mix a little richer and it now runs fine.
