I recently purchased a 80 924 2.0l non turbo with a automactic trans. It was sitting in a garage for 6 years. With the help of this board and a whole lot of fuel system cleaning, cis set up, etc, etc, etc, the car ran great. I installed a new stereo and a set of wheels from craigslist. The car looked and ran great. This car really grew on me, even the automatic trans didn't bother me. It is the perfect car to get back and forth to work. I even found myself letting my 930 sit and driving this car. The problem started today I got out of the car and the engine is making a knocking noise. It still runs totally fine, even has 60psi of oil pressure when hot at idle. It sounds possibly like a piston wrist pin? I can't believe it could be a main or rod bearing and still have that kind on oil pessure, could it? I guess my question is, before I tear into the engine, is there anything that these cars are known for noises like this? I only have about $1200 into this car but really would hate to lose it. Like I said it still runs good, no smoke, oil is clean and full. I thank you in advance for any input you guys would have. _________________ 1980 924 N/A Everyday Driver

Rubber coupler to the automatic may have disintegrated.
I think there is an inspection cover on the bottom.
Good luck. _________________ Stefan
