First time in years I've had A/C in my daily driver. I've been working on replacing everything in the system before I charged it. Redid the lines a few years back. Replaced the drier and all the o-rings last week.
Today I charged it up with some R-12. That's right R-12! It held vacuum for an hour and didn't fall a bit. I only had 3 12oz cans, and I think it takes just about 3lbs. So I need to find another can to top it off, but it is really cold already.
The vacuum operated blend doors out of a 944 are working beautiful.
Only issue I'm having is that the car doesn't raise the idle when the A/C is turned on like most cars do. Is there something not working or this feature just not part of the 924/944 A/C system? _________________ 1980 924 NA

Hey, congrats! I just started working on mine for the brutal summers down here, got to fix some leaks though. Will be nice to have it running, black interior is a heat sponge.
I had it going for a little while, motor ran like crap, drops idle down to a stumble. Still trying to figure it out, if not, I'll just have to remember to keep the gas pedal going.
I was thinking maybe it has something to do with the idle stabilizer, haven't had a lot of time for it, so I don't know.
Please post something if you figure it out... _________________ I got nothin'

Shouldn't the DITC help out with your idle issue? _________________ 78 924 NA

It may help, but my car doesn't have DITC. Only the Series 2 turbos had it. _________________ 1980 924 NA

Amen, that's what I've got too. Windows down and top off don't do a whole heck of a lot when you're stuck in traffic and it's 90+ degrees with 90% humidity. _________________ 1980 924 NA

Fixing the leaks and charging her up will be the easy part.
Figuring out how the heck these controls work will be next to impossible. _________________ I got nothin'
