Could you tell us more about the AIR rear flares? When I did my cgt project I used gt racing flares and found much to want. What kind of flare-to-body mounting provision does the AIR flare have? Does it have pre installed studs? Does it have a mounting lip along the inside of the top edge?

The reason I ask, is my gt racing flares required some glass work before they were even mountable. All they consisted of was the basic outer shape. That's all.

The AIR flares have a flange, thats it, no hardware to attach to the body.

I wasnt happy with the fit, I cut off the flanges and made my own. Used these http://www.mcmaster.com/#threaded-rods-and-studs/=amxac2 inside the new flange.

Added an inner wheel well with another flange around the back edge of the wheel opening like the original.

I have always thought that the 951 is the ultimate evolution of the carerra gt, so I will be interested to see a carerra gt with a 951 powerplant.

I'd have thought it is easier starting with a 951 as a base and grafting on 924 rear wings then the CGT flares!

Even if you wanted an early dash it may be easier to swap that over with the necessary tweaking required.

You will also need to swap out the nose section to enable a 951 IC as the 951 is different to a 924. Plus suspension, brakes, rear frame, gearbox, torque tube etc. etc.

It would be easier, there was someone on Rennlist that did that when his wife wrecked his car. I thought of doing that but didnt have a title for the parts car.

The front end conversion wasnt that bad, but without a parts car I wouldnt even try.

The rear frame is identical once you cut the 924 crossmember out. Correct holes for the bolt in crossmember are already there.

My 924S already had 951 brakes and suspension so I only needed the transaxle and engine. After selling the original parts the price of the swap wasnt bad.

I'm still here. Nope, not even close, it's just about ready for paint. I changed the front bumper design 4 times now, still not happy with it.

I'll try to get some pics this weekend.

Cool, I'm tackling the rear AIR fender flares, and want to make sure I don't eff it up. Have been researching placement, etc. Yours is such a clean look, I"m about 75% into that, track car, ugly is ok.
