Fuel filters should be an off the shelf replacement, probably pay to change it a couple of times at first until the tank is free of rubbish.
Another problem area is the fuel accumulator(s), the early models have 2 and I believe the fuel distributor is different for these. These accumulators rust out and don't hold pressure in the system causing starting problems.
Another small filter is fitted on early cars between the tank and fuel pump inlet, this gets clogged with stirred up rubbish and are NLA, take it out and reverse flush it with an air line.
I would add that my comments apply to Euro spec cars, but I believe US Specs are similar. |
I'll make sure to check all of that when I start working |

You'll likely need to replace the fuel distributer and WUR. You're best bet is getting rebuilt fuel system parts here:

Empty, clean and flush your tank. Blow out the lines, replace the fuel pump, fuel accumulator, fuel filter, fuel dizzy, WUR and get the injectors cleaned. Do it good and do it right and it won't need attention for many years. _________________ 1981 931 CGT replica, OEM CGT intercooler, .8 BAR WG spring, GTS Headlights, Innovative Wide band A/F, A/C delete, 16" Fuchs, Weltmeister 200lb lowering springs, Bilstein HDs front, Koni Sport rears. |

Basically, the injectors are brand new. WUR was replaced (I believe) but I'll check that. Past that, I was planning on doing all of that anyway. |

| Worked on it today... Opened the tank up from the bottom. Looks like someone pooped inside it. I want to avoid dropping it as much as possible, can it be cleaned in the car? |

| So I sold my other car, and it looks like its time to start work on the porsche. I've got 2 fuel accumulators, can I order 2 that dont say if they're 20cc or 40cc and run 2 40ccs? Also, Im only getting 25PSI to the injectors, should I try the accumulators first? |

I doubt the accumulators affect delivery pressure, they maintain a residual pressure in the system to aid restart and purge the fuel lines of vapour. If they are leaking internally they are corroded (remove the small screws on the bottom of each and see if fuel escapes, it shouldn't ). At a pinch, use one 40cc in lieu of 2x20.
Low delivery could be a number of issues, you need to carry out a full pressure test on the system, after renewing fuel filter.

When I got my car back on the road I found the factory put some kind of foam at the bottom of the tank that had broke down over time. So I pulled the pump at the bottom of the tank and the sending unit from the top of the tank (look under the carpet in the hatch back area) and flushed it out with a gallon of gas. I would filter the gas through a clean rag and then do it over again (about 5 times) till it was all gone. _________________ 1980 924 N.A. Monaco Blue owned since 1987

I know I have at least one around, I don't recall the condition, but I'll look and we can see if it lines up. The gents on this forum were nice enough to help me get my car running with a CIS setup, so I'm happy to return the favor. |

Today must be your lucky day. Hanging out on the shelf was one with the lines and injectors attached... low and behold... a 0 438 100 005.
Drop me a pm with the addy and shoot me $10 for the shipping and we can call it even if you want. (if you still want it, I sure as hell don't need it)

^ If you don't have one people are going to say you are driving a honda, rx7, or some other crappy car.
But if you want the person with the car in back of you think your driving a skinny tire pos honda go right ahead.
To each their own.

Some people don't need attention drawn towards themselves 24 hours a day. If you care what people think about your car you picked the wrong machine. Most Hondas and RX-7s will walk off and leave you average 924. |

| So anyway, it sounds like this project is a go! I need to acquire the lost title, which the DOL makes it sound easy. Grandpa is gonna loan me money from my college fund, which is gonna go towards the new fuel system, along with brakes and maybe a clutch kit. |
