After sitting for 2 years I'm trying to get the oil flowing and having trouble. I have been turning it over with the plugs out but can't seem to get the oil flowing. No pressure and no oil in the cam galley. Fuel pump fuse is pulled.

The old setup had the airflow switch bypassed so the fuel pump ran constantly and subsequently lots of gas in the oil. So I may have lost the prime on the oil pump due to all the gas in the oil. A google search found on rennlist on a 944/51 to remove filter, pump some oil in and roll the engine backwards to prime the pump. Do I have to do that or is there an easier way? Or do I just keep cranking?

Had the head off, but did not take the bottom end apart at all.

Hey Mike, recently, a couple of us have had similar problems after engine rebuilds. I packed my oil pump with grease before I installed it. You can use vaseline as well. It still took quite awhile before the oil started flowing. My valve train was assembled with copious amounts of assembly lube as well as the crank and rod bearings. I had time.

However, after the fact, and taking the pump off is a PIA, you can try dumping oil on the valve train, and keep cranking. Not sure your lower end will approve. It's not like 'merican engines of lore, where you could remove the distributor and spin the oil pump. Like my jeep.
