I can't since it is on a public road that isn't closed to the public. Keep that shit on the track/sanctioned events or don't film it. _________________ Stefan

I dicided to do get rid of the "Zits" also, and I found the same Porsche center panel for the taillights that you have. I really liked yours. I got it off ebay, should be coming in soon.
Did some cars come stock with that panel? |
Sweet, you'll love the way it looks without those zits!
The panels never came from the factory, but the dealers did sell certain ones. I'm not sure which ones, but mine is the only one that I've ever seen that is an exact match for the rear light color, and actually looked like something the factory would put on.

Fiat, I agree. One of the reasons I hate the dragon is that there are too many idiots there. That said, it doesn't take much effort to drift a 944 turbo... it's not like he's in a 924 that you'd need to hit 80mph first and flick the steering wheel in hopes the rear comes out... you can do this at 10mph by just squeezing the throttle.
Also, these are photos taken by guys sitting on the side of the road... so it's not a video taken by one of his friends... these guys are out there everyday and lots of people 'show out' for them. I know that's no excuse. I try to make sure I get it all out at the track, but if I said that I don't occasionally take my Porsche out and have a little fun, then I would be a liar. _________________ '84 944 -White, Brown interior

As Brent said the center light panel was a dealer add-on, and there are several different versions out there.
Personally I'm not a fan of them, and reversing the installation requires filling holes in the sheet metal and repainting, so you better be certain of your decision! I have had several different types, most that said "Porsche" some that said "944" or "turbo" and in different styles, some nicer like Brent's and some that were more flat and cheapo looking.

I'm going to do a big smokey burnout in your driveway next time I come to Portland. _________________ 86 951 (daily driver)

Yep, most panels were probably ordered out of the backs of magazines, and are cheap and ugly looking!
I didn't like them the first time I saw them either, but always felt US cars needed something other than a huge space between the lights and a license plate that doesn't fit... after finding one that actually looks nice, I'm happy with it. _________________ '84 944 -White, Brown interior

Well at least you got the best looking type of the bunch!
A lot of guys have done the tag bracket mod... I like the look but I'm always too lazy to do it on my cars.... its as simple as: unbolt the tag bracket, flip it upside down, grind the edges just a hair for body clearance, and presto:
(black car with the tag bracket mod, camo and red cars without)

That actually looks pretty good, I haven't seen that before! The stock plate looks like it was installed by a drunk baboon.
I was wanting to do something like that, but paint the area around the plate flat black... but wasn't even sure I could get the plate to fit right, so I didn't bother.
When my car turns 35 in NC, I can use a euro-plate, but I'll probably be on my 10th paint job by then, so there's no telling what my car will look like. _________________ '84 944 -White, Brown interior

I've always liked the center panels, I thought Brent's looked awesome. The one I ordered is the exact same as Brent's... I think... hope.
I love smokey burnouts also!!! _________________ Thanks, JReece

I don't think that's one of his...
that car was parked a few cars up from yours at the meet, I don't remember who was driving it. _________________ '84 944 -White, Brown interior

Nope not mine!
That's Justin Cole's car. It was there at the meet, and ran with us on the TOD run the next day. It's actually a pretty nice ride! _________________ 86 951 (daily driver)

JReece, it's good to hear from you! I hope to see you there.
Elliott, who is the guy in the yellow shirt? If I remember correctly he got in the orange 944 with the V8... anyway, we had a great time talking and I was just wondering if that was Robstah? Either way, it's a shame what happened to him over there.

The orange V8 car was indeed Rob (robstah) but the guy in the yellow shirt is Michael Harris, who owned the red 951 with white phone-dials and with the bra on the front.
Both super great guys. And both of them will be joining us again for this meet
PS - I got your email, but I'm trying to find where that Charlotte guy posted that he was going to come. Once I find it or figure out, I'll let you know! _________________ 86 951 (daily driver)

No problem, I'll be out of town this week so there's no rush.

Ah, I knew the orange 944 was with us as we left, but must have mixed up who got into what car.
Oh and here's a short video I made of us getting on the highway.

While, I'm not sure if I met Rob; tell him not to sweat it. IMO they're the tumblr of the 944 world. Those guys literally just make up stuff and think they're experts. _________________ '84 944 -White, Brown interior
