| walterv wrote: | | the carpet all needs to be replaced, assume either the hatch leaked, or the sunroof (musty smell) | Check the battery tray very closely. Very important to identify where the water may be coming in. Also, by the fuel filler tube, there is a union there that will sometimes get clogged or disconnect, causing water to seep down into the rear passenger footwell.

Proper torque and periodic retightening is really important to minimize leaks.

Check the flexible rubber boot at the throttle body, and all of the soft rubber elbows and hoses. The elbows in particular are susceptible to cracking, and often cannot be detected until you remove them and inspect the inside corners of the elbows.
Again, welcome to forum, really interested in seeing pix...that two tone green combo is one of my favs. |
Ideola,
Thanks for your input and guidance, and yes it is the first to second gig you mentioned, any clue on how to fix that?
Also, figured a vacuum leak, lot's of the stuff (hoses and sort) look original.

welcome! another long islander! love the color combo.
check the sun roof drains...behind the rear wheels there is a rubber tube comming out on each side...this is the drain for the sunroof....remove the sunroof and blow compressed air through each side from behind each wheel...you will be amazed how much stuff will blow out. on my old 77.5 most of the remains of the original sunroof seal were in there.
regards,
Paul |
