Have just fitted a late 944 encapsulated screen to my 924, went straight in with no issues. sits flush and the original wiper arms fit with no problems. looks much better IMO .

Only part I had to get was the rubber edging strip. The screen came with a spacer on the inside face. The guys from the glass company turned up with 2 screens, normal 924 and encapsulated 944. tried them both and the 944 one as supplied fitted flush. The pins for the clips that hold the original trims had to be removed, but thats it.

Quick update, I did in the end have to modify the left hand wiper arm slightly. did the final fit today and the L/H arm was going to catch the screen slightly, used the bench grinder to take the radius on the bottom of the arm back a bit clears a treat now R/H arm clears by a mile.

Cant vouch for the relative cost of the screens, mine was an insurance replacement so cost me £50

I guess you meen the rubber infill strip that finnishes the gap between the screen and the body ? As i recall the one I was advised to get is for a 993 series 911 but also fits the 944 .

Here is the only pic I have from the fitting, standard late 944 screen fitted to 924 with 993 rubber finnishing strip. [/img]

will take some close ups of it all in place.

Basically remove old screen, grind off the lugs that the aloy trim fits to, fit late 44 screen. The late screen should come with a stand off bonded to the inside, this moves the screen out from the flange so it sits flush to the body. This stand off should allready be on the screen you should not need to source the part, then fit the rubber fill strip. Finally re fit your wipers BE AWARE that the left hand wiper may need a small bit grinding off to clear the screen, check before you switch the wipers on ! on mine the right hand wiper didnt need any work doing.

Ok so have taken some pics to show the screen in place.
Sits flush to the body with the rubber strip to finnish the gap.

This one shows the left hand wiper, you can just make out where I ground the radius out a bit to clear the screen.
Its a standard late 944 screen with green top tint and a built in ariel which I didnt use. There is a gap now between the A pilar trim and the screen, I guess you could fit late piller trims if its a problem but its barely noticable TBH and as I have a custom interior I just used the originals.

So I see you left the 924 lower support blocks and it looks like the glass is not touching them? I presume the installer wasn't concerned about this? The 944 block are different.

I just did mine but I used the late lower blocks. You need the late windshield, not the one for 85.5-86. This one used a special channel that attaches to the pinch weld to space the windshield up. It is NLA.





I did some work to the base sheet metal to raise the whole wiper mech higher so I didn't need to worry about the wiper arms.

The late lower blocks fit perfectly and they have an Allen nut for adjustment of the glass height. I haven't put the final trim on yet because I want to paint the car first.

That looks great ! the screen guys werent bothered about the supports, said that not needed with the modern adhesives which have a high grip.

On mine it wasnt the height of the wiper arm that was an issue, the wiper boss was going to catch slightly, may not be a problem for you but worth checking.
