A bit more information is needed.
What year car, what distributor?
The coil gets 12 volts from the battery, ramps it up and then discharges the high voltage spark to the distributor four times per rotation based on a signal from the distributor (points or optical wheel). _________________ 1979 924 NA race car H-Prod SCCA

Wrong section, but did you reconnect the large ground strap at the coil?
How about the distributor pickup connector? _________________ Stefan

If I remember correctly the 78 has a points distributor...I could be wrong.
The only two wires going into the distributor should be the HT lead from the coil going into the center of the distributor cap and if you have a HAL sensor distributor (in lieu of the the points one) you will have that connector as well towards the bottom of the distributor.
Make sure you have 12 volts going to the coil, easy to check with a volt meter. You could have a bad coil. Prior to pulling the engine it may have been limping along, but with a refreshed motor there may not be enough spark and she won't run.
Also check you ignition timing, cam timing and overall timing...that may be an issue as well.
Are you spark plugs fouled?
Make sure the spark plug leads are all seated well and the connectors are clean and not corroded.
Did you reconnect your grounding straps to the engine? it has to be grounded or the spark plugs won't fire.
Good luck _________________ Ian Edgerly

My guess is that you haven't timed the distributor correctly so that the rotor is pointing to the #1 post on the distributor cap.
Put everything at TDC and check that the rotor is pointing to the little notch on the distributor. Once that is done, make sure that your #1 wire is connected to the correct post on the cap.
BTW the '78 has a Hall sensor but no points.
Good luck.... _________________ 1987 924S SPEC car
