| Better or easier/cheaper? I had duel DCOE 40s on my 77 and I loved them. The car started every time without fuss and it made a wicked sound. EFI is far superior to carbs any day of the week. Turbo plus efi will produce much greater horsepower. |

If you can speak in algorithms, then EFI can be quite fun. However, us lesser humans who can't, have a hard time tuning this system. Myself included~! But, the IDEA of EFI, coupled with EDIS from a Ford car, simplifies the engine compartment, and once tuned, really works well. I'm not quite there yet. _________________ '83 944 Track car.

It's a good idea if advanced user of forum can made a guide step to step for convert na k-jetronic to efi and another guide for install and configure turbo. _________________ Porsche 924 2.0 na 125hp (1979) euro

Its been done. Check in the How-To section.
Basically its called following the MegaSquirt manual.
Read it here:
http://www.megamanual.com/MSFAQ.htm
Go and buy the necessary parts (MegaSquirt EFI box, wiring, sensors, connectors, fuel pump, fuel regulator) and install them.
You'll need to fabricate or find a fuel rail to hold the injectors along with injector inserts for the cylinder head (034motorsports has ready made inserts for Audi motors, but they aren't cheap).
A Throttle Position Sensor will have to be added to the throttle body or a replacement throttle body with a Throttle Position Sensor already added will be needed. Some later Audi and VW vehicles did have these.
Follow the manual to configure the startup settings and then adjust them until the car starts reliably and then you can tune the tables on the move with a laptop connected to the MegaSquirt using TunerStudio.
http://tunerstudio.com/index.php/tuner-studio
I did the conversion on my 924 and it wasn't hard other than getting it started the first time, but I caution you to start with a well running engine and to not make too many changes at once, so start with managing either fuel or ignition via MegaSquirt, not both until you're ready. I made too many changes at once on my car (Integral Cam, multiple throttle bodies, distributorless ignition) and it made it really difficult to tune. _________________ Stefan

If you can find a kit, the install guide is posted here someplace.
They are very rare, but searching you might find one or most of the parts for one.
Note: it is intended for use with CIS, so some adaptation would be needed to fit it to a car converted to EFI. _________________ Stefan

But installing turbo kit on engine 35 year old and not restored it's not dangerous? Isn't possible that at first open of turbo the engine breaks?
I have to reduce first the cr? _________________ Porsche 924 2.0 na 125hp (1979) euro

Forget all that, turbo+EFI would be a massive undertaking, and especially megasquirt is going to take a whole lot of "know how".

If you mess up your tuning with the EFI and the amount of boost you run That said, I'd rather blow up an old worn out motor tuning things than a newly built motor.
Do you know the engine code of your motor? It's stamped on the engine block and that will tell you how much CR you have. A thicker head gasket can reduce your CR if desired. Cometic can make you a thicker head gasket. With proper fueling and low boost levels you can still run a turbo on higher CR and it will be more responsive at lower speeds. _________________ Stefan

Yeah, you can get 924 engines for free here. Might as well blow a few up. |
