I've got a 1979 924 that has been sitting for upwards of 10+ years.

When the external fuel pump gets power, it makes an audible "thud", vibrates a tiny bit, and then stops.

Is there any chance of salvaging it? Is there a way to disassemble it?

You can try bench-testing it. Pull the pump, and alternate the leads, back and forth, and maybe the thud will get removed. Might want to put the one end in a bowl of fuel.

Tried it, no dice; the fuel pump is dead.

Also, noticed that there doesn't seem to be an internal fuel pump like this one - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AGSDIMS/ref=dra_a_rv_ff_fx_it_P2000_1000?tag=dradisplay-20&ascsubtag=c0f132addc332b5a2c994761a7879a98_S&dra_hfr=x&dra_ohs=24-24

I thought the '79+ all had internal & external pumps?

Ditch the internal pump and just run an internal screen or external see through filter and just use the secondary pump same as the 944 setup...

Interesting. Doesn't look like it ever had one, either. I guess I'll just go with it.
