|
|
Hey Everybody -
I was having some issues at night seeing clearly out of my 1988 924S. Here are the steps that made my visibility much better:
Spray the windshield with lots of Windex and used a razor blade to give it a deep cleaning. I did this process twice.
Cleaned the inside and outside of the windshield with alcohol to remove any residue.
Used newspaper and Windex to give both the outside and inside a final good cleaning.
Changed my horrible stock Sylvania headlights to Hella e-Codes. I bought them from Ideola's Garage: http://garage.ideola.com/prod-ElectricsUpgrades.html [Excellent customer service]
Now I can seeing very clearly at night. My visibility has been improved at least 50% better. The e-codes puts out excellent lighting exactly where you need it to be - not only ahead of you but also on the sides.
While nothing I have done is revolutionary or unique - it certainly did help me out and hopefully others as well. _________________ MOD

I wonder if that's what was wrong with my old RX7...the longer I had it, the harder it was to see out. I finally gave up and sold it. _________________ Toofah King Bad

| Thanks for the useful post! I also don't like driving my 924 at night. I will definitely upgrade to H4 per your suggestion. The other problem I have is with reflection from the side-view mirrors when there is a vehicle behind - Probably no solution unless you install some James Bond gadgets. |

Or adjust your SIDE view mirrors correctly? If you can see cars directly behind you, they are adjusted wrong.

I second the mirrors aligned incorrectly.
Also the square head mirrors SUCK.
The later 968 pieces are a ton better and can be swapped in.
Unfortunately they are kinda spendy to buy new and rather rare used. _________________ Stefan

I agree entirely. Something about the square mirrors makes the passenger side almost unusable for my preferred seating position. I cannot get the square ones adjusted in a way that doesn't require me to lean to the right to get proper field of view.
The 968 mirrors, by contrast, while appearing to have a smaller surface area, are much better positioned and provide greatly improved visibility. I suspect (but don't know for certain) that it is due to a concave mirror surface. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |
