Having recently recommissioned my trusty 924 my thoughts have turned to wickedness......
I have spotted these:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222155490972 (I am in the UK) which frankly look like a bargain with only 3 days left to run and am thinking about having a go. The same seller also has a 968 adjustable rear sway bar.
The question is how good (or otherwise) is the Koni adjustable suspension? Does anyone have experience? I am actually going to make my car too stiff and harsh, or will it really transform it as the seller suggests. I freely admit my current suspension has done some miles and isn't in the first flush of youth.... I was thinking about new front strut inserts anyway but it sure is tempting to try and bag this whole Koni set up for almost the same price as a pair of standard new strut inserts...
Any thoughts? |

I currently have Koni shocks with 924S M030 springs/t-bars on my 931. It feels much stiffer than stock but handles much better.

Interesting. That is good to know. When you say 'much' stiffer, is it bone-jarring or just 'purposeful'? I track my car quite a lot, so don't mind a compromise of being a touch firm for road use.

I would buy new if possible. You won't need the springs or housings despite how pimp they look, your car already has them. You just need the cartridges. Some people will point out they can be re-built if they blow and yes, the Konis are re-buildable, but it cost almost the same to send them for rebuilding as it does to just buy a new one so...just buy new and have the piece of mind that you get a warranty and many miles of worry free driving. If you want the cool yellow housings paint is cheap..

For track car it is on soft side a bit, but on a bumps it feels a bit overdamped on rebound.
By the way, in yellow Koni shocks you can adjust only rebound, compression stiffens very little while you're tightening them. I believe it's a feature of valve design.
I adjusted mine in a middle position all round.

I think Koni Sports are magical.
We've driven hard through the redwoods in NorCal a few times, and the way they handle uneven road surfaces, transitions, and hard braking with the suspension loaded is unreal.
I've had them on for years, and just last month we flogged over CA 29 on the way back from Sonoma, and they still feel the same. Fantastic dampers.

I would not know as i never had any of those. I'm after the adjustability for the fronts as i have fully adjustable suspension on the rears but only height adjustable on the fronts.

Thank you, some really useful replies. Sounds like they are worth a shot. Seller reckons they have done about 3000 miles, so nothing in the scheme of things. Wish me luck  |

Went for a silly price for used with no idea of age and mileage. 3000 miles with that rust on the rear shocks .... I don't think so. I bought Koni M030 adjustable coil overs front and rear with torsion bars for less than those.
Take a look at GAZ options, they do road, sport and race options from £400. If the car is a keeper, go new.
