My 77.5 has not run in a long time . I put fresh gas in it and it
is flooding to a point that it won't run under 3grand ! Gotta pull the
fool pump relay!, to get it started and when it starts to lean out
I plug the relay back in and its petal to the metal to keep it
goin . Fuel pressures are about normal . As it warmes up it gets
a little better and when it gets up to temp it will almost run on it's
own . That makes me think that it's not the cold start stuff but
maby the control plunger it the dist. and I know that there are
lots of little parts in there !
Any hints ? _________________ Any fool can say 'it won't work" |

| With the car off, remove the big hose on the air horn and lift and release the plate a couple of times to make sure its moving freely. |

Geezer,
Did you feel any resistance when you lifted the air plate? If not the control pressure regulator (WUR) may be plugged. Without control pressure, too much fuel is allowed to go to the injectors. Try removing the fuel lines at the WUR. One of them (from the side of the dist) should have a wire mesh filter. If that is plugged, cleaning or removing it may solve your problem. Also, it may help to spray carb/throttlebody cleaner through the WUR.

Have you actually put the CIS gauge on it? The series of simple tests will pretty well tell you with accuracy where your trouble is; if it is the control pressure regulator, fuel distributor or if it's system pressure related. I'd put money on your WUR being toast.
My car sat for 11-12 years, and the plunger was frozen in place. Took better part of an hour to gently work it out of the distributor, but it cleaned up just as nice as could be and then floated effortlessly. I did though have to have the whole fuel distributor rebuilt because it was so gummed up inside (fuel tank, accumulator, filter, WUR and injectors had to be replaced too). _________________ '79 Eurospec 931 |
