This is an excellent recount of the presentation I was at a few years ago. Dr. Melvin is also a Porsche guy; he is in fact not only in our (Rally Sport) PCA Region, but is our Safety Chair.

when he says "sit on the sub belts", does that imply that he has the sub belts going out through the lap belt holes in the side of tthe racing seat?
That is the only way I can see that he has (1) the sub belts horizontal, (2) sub belts mounted with the lap belts and (3) sitting on the belts.

You are quite correct. That is what I've done with my installation (subsequent to attending the presentation). I have never had any issues passing tech, in case that's what you're wondering about. That's how they're designed to function, and since I use a built-in hardpoint for attachment (the lap and sub belts are bolted together where the stock 3-pt harness installs), it's sure to be safer than going to other mounting points. _________________ Vaughan Scott
