cheap lght weight aluminum muffler is goin south again
these types only last for about a year then they fall apart
..the last one I had the mounting bracket fell of leaving
a hole in the end of the muffler now this one the whole
pipe coming out og the end is becoming loose ..Well Im
gonna get one of the custom ones I think and change
the sound radically maybe ...If I can find one for the right price. _________________ 1979 porsche 924 Na

Maybe you should replace it with a 4" fartcan, ya know, for that added top end. _________________ '81 931 in various states of assembly |

My experience is that the end coming from the cat breaks. So I always have a piece welded on to support the pipe at that location. Anyway this time the muffler just rotted from the inside out.
Oh and here is another interesting thing the 1980 is doing. Never have had this happen with the 1982 even though I have had many different mufflers on it of late.
Anyway it is melting the rear bumper pad! Turned it into a molten mess. Now it is all over the back of the car. Real weird. It is stock exhaust and seems to be in the right location in the rear. Maybe a slight upward tilt at the end but like I said I have never had the pad melt like this. I should take a picture of it. Looks like I have flames coming out the back.

Basically Im tired of the sound a shitty
cheap 20 dollar turbo muffler brings.
Cars not ready to drive yet anyway.
close but not quite it needs a dash
& sound system installed,, I could see
the resonator fallen off cause its so rotted
the pipe that comes off the muffler is fallen aprt
I dont know if its because I welded the heavy resonator
on the end or what..So anyway it could fall off and bounce
of the ground and go thru a windshield not likely though.
more like just skidden across the road. _________________ 1979 porsche 924 Na

Today Im goin to look for a to see if I can find what I want
without orderen it from the mail. Though I downgraded and had the welder weld on a 18.00 rectangle turbo. Seems they make 2 really inexspensive turbos the least exspensive is loud I didnt weld on the resonator though and am not goin to. Im gonna look in a couple custom places then maybe
try midas what do they carry anyone know. _________________ 1979 porsche 924 Na

I used to have its was a nice offroad sound.. Id like something like that
I just have to look. Its pretty deep sounden now...just a muffler and no tip
with the single throat tb when the gas is off it fall to 900 rpm real fast its fun to drive. Didnt want to stop and look today. _________________ 1979 porsche 924 Na

This ones deep and loud not the performance end it should be.
The welder told me I forgot to mark horizontal on the pipe
before I took it off I said its ok I was off alittle and the heres the
result I need to look around and find the right one in the shops like I said. Look no tip
I like the look of no tip it sticks out to far with the tip anyway. I need a fix here
with a different hanger maybe also.

Went to a speed shop on the way home from work,
mostly a fab shop..He had these pretty neat glass packs
that were made of steel in 24" n 48" lengths. After talken
with the guy hesaid it still might be loud Id add the tip to
quite it down. I think these are what applebit ran he ran
2 od them though I would just use one though I think Im
looken some more. The glasspack would inly be 30 bucks
for a 24 inch. Should I go rice with the fart can. The guy
at the shop was worken on a flathead he didnt hear to

ewwwww glasspacks...
Personally I would get a muffler that keeps the sound nice and muscular but the volume down a little. Like the muffler in my 931 _________________ '80 931 FOR SALE
