Hi, I have just recently purchased a 1981 931. I am wondering what to do to get the maximum amount of power from the engine, squeeze the engine to its limit. I have no problem with the amount of money I throw at the car, It's just what to throw I am wondering (please, no low-brow comebacks ). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The first thing that I want to do is convert the injection system to EFI, but I don't know what system I should get, how to program it ect. What's the best compression ratio for the car? What size of turbo/intercooler could I install? What alloy of pistons would be best? Whats the best exhaust system? Any other Q&A's would be great. Thanks for your time |

first off why don't you get to know the car a bit better before you start tearing it apart, you never know you might like it just the way it is. What shape is the car in? if it's fine why bother tearing it apart? For upgrades to the existing system a popular one is to replace the stock waste gate spring with a 1 bar spring and then add an intercooler. From what I hear you end up around 200 HP from that upgrade.
If you want to make some insane HP then you would definately have to at minimum have some sort of ignition control setup or you can switch over to EFI and DIS. If your interested in doing that do a search here for EFI and you'll find tons of information in fact not 5 posts under this one there is some information about EFI that is very useful. _________________ -'87 Jeep Cherokee 4.0L 6" of lift 33" Super Swampers

The car is getting a total overhaul, I bought the car with the engine outside the engine bay, the interior completely torn to pieces(want to change over to black from dark tan). With the engine I will replace the pistons which are shot, and machine just about everything. I have obviously never driven the car and I don't like the way it is (haha..) So I'm up for anything. Thanks. |
