Hey everyone,
I just picked up an 88 924S a about 2 weeks ago, and went to do a transmission fluid change. While I was searching around for the plugs to remove I realized..... there were no plugs! I could see into the gear box, and actually see the gears. So to make sure that this was in fact the gear box, i had my friend start up the car... and sure enough, the gears started turning. The one thing i dont understand is that these holes are not threaded at all... so how does a plug go into them? Were they originally threaded?
Its gonna be a long night.
Thanks for your input. |

Hmmm... Maybe I jumped the gun ?
The gear i am seeing is the gear in the picture below.... is it just a gear for the starter? Shouldnt there be plugs on here anyway?
I am new into Porsche and am trying to work without a Haynes manual. |

Don't feel too bad I had a friend call me up one day to help with hi car. He changed the motor oil and it was smoking really bad and wouldn't move. Seems he drained the tranny and put 5 quarts and a new filter on the motor. _________________ Glenn Neff

Actually you will need 2 manuals as there is no Haynes (or any other) manual that covers the 924S. You need the early 924 Haynes for the body and most of the electrics and the early 944 manual for the engine suspension and tranny. You can't even get a manual from Porsche that covers the S. You have to get one manual and the S suplement. _________________ Glenn Neff
