In speaking with other 924/931/944 owners, ive found that most of share a certain commonality when it comes to our car parts.. WE TEND TO SAVE EVERYTHING!!
a few months back i trailered "my stuff" to my new home from ny to fl.. ive been going through the bins (many) ever since...i went on a cleaning binge and filled two trash cans with old parts..not good stuff i could use at some point, but parts that were known to be bad and not repairable..broken plastic bits, cracked metal parts, rusty nuts and bolts id never again use, bad hoses, etc. i found a tranny linkage wishbone that was cracked in half, in the trash it went, stripped bolts, split hoses, cracked interior lights, into the garbage... some of it i had saved to use as "templates"or cores, should i ever need to replace that part again, bendy hoses and such so i could go to the parts store and match it up..but it ocured to me that if that certain part goes bad again, im going to have to pull it from the car anyhow..in the trash they went..
a third of the stuff i spent so much effort in transporting, ended up in the garbage can, and im not done yet... ive got a garage full of parts, half of which ill probably never need..but its still "good " stuff that i wont just toss..i guess ill find someone who needs it eventually, or maybe ill build a n/a out of it all (all id need is a shell and a block, the rest of the car is out there in boxes)

but im guessing im not the only one who does this... whats in your parts bins??

Funny, I went through this when I moved, some of the guys, had boxed up used spark plugs, headgaskets obviously bad, bad, belts hoses, broken plastic, ripped up carpet. Wish it had only beeen 2 trash can loads, ended up being a full pick up load, I have a F-150 with an extra long bed. SHould of seen some of the marvelous stuff, I had been storing in the old shop. I still have a good load to go out to the scrap metal recycler And we won't count oall the rims and heads and blocks that I need to recycle for the aluminum. I personally have no probelms throwing away my old spark plugs or oil filters, but a few of my friends seem think it may be good to hold onto just in case??? IN case of what, I feel like throwing it away later

I've cleaned house once, when I moved from my storage facility to the new digs. Probably a car or two worth of crap. Still have more to toss, including a rusted out '77 chassis that I am nearly done stripping. This one had a lot of good parts in the engine and interior, just huge holes in the floors.

I'll see what I can do when I come for my next visit, which should be soon.

Might not be 'til early 05, but soon. I promise.

I'll be sure to have the truck bed empty, well after my delivery anyway.

There's a 924 camshaft, cam cover, timing belt cover and a host of other parts under our bed! Just don't tell my wife... though actually I think she gets a kink from the faint smell of engine oil

not really, if the part is bad I get rid of it right away,
I had a fet of tappets with pitting in them that I got rid of too, I had a camshaft with a bad lobe (heavily pitted) that I discarded too.
