i ve never really driven a 924 cause my old 924 ice racer project never got off the ground , so im now running a scirocco , but the 924 bug still temps me , more as a street slash auto x car , what is the performance like? is my scirocco about the same ? is the 924 quicker? _________________ 80 924 ( m471)

As for performance the scirroco is probally or can be made quicker than a 924, but when it comes to handling thier is no contest, you can slice through the corners in a 924 faster than you could with most cars. It's near perfect weight ratio, proves itself very nicely when put to the test. This was my first year autocrossing, I started the year in an 81 924 and finished in a 83 944. Both cars have nice handling but can't compare the two much as the 944 had been upgraded with a much better suspsension. Which aloowed me to corner harder and faster, I beleive that if I had the same suspension on the 924 I would of been just as happy, as i have built several 924's that could easily take a 20-30 mph corner at more 60 mph woithout tire squell. If you are ever in the area, and would like me to prove this to you, I will be more than happy. I have my 944 cornering on the same corners at 10 20 mph faster, but again this has Koni's up front bilstiens out back, and a set of Falken Azenis on it. Very tight and excellent handling the 924/944 series cars have. And by far once you learn thier driving characteristics. You'll be happy. _________________ Life is to short to be looking for something? |

Yeah, where are you anyway?
I think you'd have found the 924 to be a wonderfully well-balanced and easy to drift car, if you'd gotten your ice racer running. _________________ Vaughan Scott

A Sirocco if I remember correctly 0-60 times were about 8.5 seconds. Your stock 924 is maybe at 11 seconds. My modified 924 did beat one once on the street. Who knows. I would say the VW is faster. Handling? Never drove one. _________________ "Never let them see you sweat"
