I was wondering if the 924 engine was ever used in an application where it isn't put at a slant? I have seen pictures of the postal jeeps and amc cars, but still looks like it is slanted?

And could this have any effect on the performance of the motor?

That black ex-Holbert GTR that is for sale has really nice pics of the engine with the front bodywork off (it's a tube-frame front-end), and you can see that not only have they dry-sumped the engine, it's also been stood upright. Very cool, a great idea, I bet it helps a huge amount with the problem of oil coming up the side of the block. Of course, just dry-sumping without reorienting the engine would help too.

Of course, that's probably not quite the answer you were looking for...

Did they slant it becuase of hood clearance or for oiling issues seems the pickup is low enough and is located in the deep part of the pan if memory
serves me right.

Forgive my ignorance but where might we be able to see this ex-Holbert GTR for sale?

No, it was slanted due to hood clearance. The pickup is located appropriately, but no good for racing thanks to the slanted block...

Instead of going to a dry sump would a baffle system remedy this problem, I've seen this used on VW GTI's. Any thoughts as to whether this would work for the 924.

I have a crank scraper which also provides a baffle function, and I do believe it helps. I don't have data to prove this, though.

Do you have a link to share so we can look at this car?
