Hey all! I need some serious help, here:

We're running Windows Millenium with Internet Explorer-god-only-knows-what-version. This past week, I ceased to be able to open any of my hotmail accounts on this computer. I have FULL access to anything on the Internet that I want -including MSN.com pages- but can NOT get to Hotmail.com or any portion thereof.

I have dial-up so when I try to send for the page, the little iconic computers on my taskbar start lighting up like they're communicating for about five seconds and then...nothing.

NOTE: I discovered while writing this that if I patiently hit the refresh button a thousand and one times I MIGHT be able to open the page. Only worked twice, though.

FRUSTRATING to the MAX. I know some of you have been trying to reach me via e-mail, so my apologies if you haven't heard back from me yet.

Any ideas?????????

Okay, a little more info for you: When I try to get anywhere near a Hotmail page OR when I actually managed to GET to Hotmail, and then try to go anywhere else within the Hotmail site, the entire window is locking up. Scroll bars, everything within the active window. The toolbars still work fine, but the active window locks up solid.

?????

A quick fix is to install another web browser and use that till you get it fixed. Firefox is a small very feature filled version of Mozilla (Netscape used Mozilla), but it's not as bloated as Mozilla Suite.

www.getfirefox.com

You can also download the latest IE 6 SP1 from here

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/critical/ie6sp1/default.mspx

It sounds like there's something flash, java, etc on the Hotmail page that's causing your IE to lock up. You can try updating those two applications by going to

http://java.com/en/index.jsp (top right corner)

Thanks a TON for the links, brentil!!!

Tried the Java and Flash downloads first, but they didn't help, so I downloaded and installed the IE service pack and that did the trick. Works like a charm, now.

Thanks again!
