My 31 has hydraulic drum brakes. I really hate hydraulic drum brakes so I either need to switch them to air drum brakes or change them to discs. I know the normal way is to use 944 or 924 disc brake setup I did that to my 24. I'm looking at using the brakes off an 86 951 (944 turbo). I may never need that much braking but it's nice to know it's there if I ever do and I'm hard on brakes.

Has anyone done this conversion to a 924?

I know I will have to change to a T split in the rear for hydraulics as the 951 uses a bias valve. What are the diffrences in the brake master cylinders and brake boosters? The part numbers are the same for the 83 944 and 86 951 but are diffrent for the 931. Of course I have an 80 931 with the brake light switch on the master cylinder. What does it take to make the brake light switch work off the pedal? Also I will have to switch to an electronic speedometer since the spindles are diffrent and don't have the hole for the cable. Has anyone made a bracket for the rear cv joints to pick up a speed signal? Thanks.

Dont know for sure about the mc enough to think youll
need a bigger one. Converting to a pedal swtch, just
buy the switch (Nappa ). Theres a hole that the switch fits into
( a flange) Now reroute your wires fromt engine bay to interior
and your done. You want to get discs and get rid of the drums.
