found this , anyone do anything similiar? i was looking to buy one, but if this looks like itll work (and the range is okay) it might be worth a shot , and probably allot less expensive...

Absolutely makes perfect sense. You can even just pressurize the cylinder and listed for the leaks as described; if you don't need to quantify them, that'll save you even more.

Hmmm, I've got a regulator sitting in my toolbox... maybe I should pick up a gauge and fittings, get this all rigged up...

Oh, yeah, also... I bought the fittings that go in the spark plug hole to hold the valves up. This can be used for the leakdown fitting as well, and is cheaper than the SnapOn or such hoses and compression testers...

I find leakdown so much more informative than the compression tester...

I just bought a leakage tester for less than $70 works great.
