Noticed the tyre pressure sticker on the inside of my fuel filler door the other day when I was filling the tank. The only size mentioned on the sticker is 15". Does that mean my car originally came with 15: rims? When I got it it had (& still has) 14", after-market 4-bolt rims.
There is also an additional key hole next to the door which I'm lead to believe may be a stock alarm or imobiliser. The PO didn't know & of course I have no key for it so it is useless, but interesting to know. _________________ TJ

| I'm pretty sure the 82 came with 15 as stock. The 14 inch wheels were probably picked up by a PO. If your car had an alarm installed at the factory it would have a keyhole behind the divers door. |

The only genuine 15" 4-bolt rims I know of are Spider Webs & if that's the case (ie it originally came with 15" Spiders), then I think I'll cry!

Tony, since we have identicle cars, paint, options, and all I am willing to bet that you did indeed have 15" Spiderwebs. By 1982 almost all cars were coming with the optioned wheels, if not with the 5 lug suspension.
Sorry to hear that the PO may have been a ding-a-ling. _________________ MJ

Pretty sure the PO (the 2nd owner, I'm the 3rd) even knew. He certainly didn't know what the 2nd lock near the drivers door was.
Here is a pic of what I think is probably the factory immobiliser lock
Sticker on the window above that lock says "Protected by Auto Pulse" _________________ TJ

Have the locks re-keyed to match. A good locksmith can do all 4 exterior locks the same for you and then you can utilize the alarm.
Matter of fact there are some articles over on the Pelican Tech Forums that give you the procedure for re-keying the door locks. If you ever decide you want to use the added feature but don't want to pay a locksmith. _________________ MJ

| That's different! Would the alarm still work? Even if you replaced the wires, couldn't the alarm malfunction and not switch off? Would that kill the ignition? Where is the actual alarm located? |

Be careful with the factory alarm, if they go hay wire, they can kill your alt. as they shut that down, doing the imobolizing. That is what happened to my 944. Now i have a short to my fuel pump, which is related.
Also some 924's in 80 had the 4 lug still as the 5 lug was an option, i have an 82 that came that way. _________________ Life is to short to be looking for something? |

My '82 has 4-bolt. I understood the standard for the NAs was 4-bolt & to get 5-bolt (ie 4 wheel disc) from the factory was an option (M471 or something?). _________________ TJ
