I'm not quite sure why but I rec'd this post as a Private Message from a new member. I don't have any help I can give so I'm posting here so others might be able to offere advice.

Hallo D Hook

I am new to this discussion club but I look forward to some good chatting.
I am in South Africa (Port Elizabeth) and have recently purchased a 2nd hand 924 (1978 model) and even though the 924's are quite common here I have a Left Hand Drive one and there aren't many of them around here, in fact I haven't seen or heard of one yet !

I use this vehicle daily but there is some work to be done on it. The interior looks good, about two rust spots on the body, engine still good although I have some minor problems (Water leak, Air leak on the CIS) but a good runner. I still get 200km/h out of the engine so it's not that bad.

I would like to ask you this : I notice that the rear wheels are far away from the rear wheel arch. The front is not bad. If I were to put some spacers on the rear wheels, just to bring it out a bit (Maybe 20/25mm thick), would this have an negative effect on my roadholding if the front and rear wheels are not in line with each other ?

I still have the original 15" Porsche Rims on but would like to put some mags on. Maybe go about 205 wide at the beack and 195 in the front
(No power steering so I would not try 205 on the front)

Any & all advice will be greatly appreciated

Regards
Jeremie

I'd guess that he's missing the original spacers. Putting wider rubber on the rims (if spacers are actually the problem) won't help matters because half of the increased width will be on the inboard side of the rim - and it may very well rub...
